Mark Pearson
Job Title: Branch Manager
Location: Leeds
I joined Advantage Healthcare in January 2010 as Branch Consultant for the Leeds office. Before joining Advantage I had worked in recruitment for 5 years within the construction industry, recruiting and placing permanent and freelance candidates.
I wanted to get into the health sector of recruitment and saw that Advantage had over 26 offices spread throughout the UK, which appealed to me as I wanted to work for a well established company.
In my role as a Branch Consultant for Advantage I was responsible for supplying candidates to establishment clients on a temporary contract basis. I did a 360 recruitment role which included interviewing candidates, placing adverts, sales calls to clients and client visits.
After 3 months in this role I was placed on the Senior Consultant Programme, which involved training and development in areas such as holding an investigation meeting with a candidate, coordinating a peer group meeting and training new consultants. The programme also allowed me to diversify my experience and be involved in other areas of the business such as running an establishment desk and being involved in the domiciliary care side of the business.
Following completion of the Senior Consultant Programme, a Trainee Branch Manager position became available in the Leeds branch and I was successful in obtaining the role. I was then promoted to Branch Manager in March 2011.
I am now thoroughly enjoy my role as Branch Manager, particularly the decision making aspects as they keep me motivated and focused. I also enjoy the responsibility of being a Branch Manager as it is a lot like owning my own business.
Throughout my career at Advantage I have received an excellent level of support from my team and other managers within the business and feel that I have received excellent opportunities to progress and develop from a Consultant role through to Branch Manager.
